The Semi-Finals are finally here girls and boys, and the matchups this week will prove who has the overall skill and determination to go to the finals and have a chance to take it all. I've decided to gather some information about all the tankers who are going to the Semi-Finals, including 2 possibilities in FirstStar & Grinder.
Player Profiles
[list:c2dfd75a58]Tdog (Semi-finalist)
[list:c2dfd75a58]Easily the most recognized tanker in the Tournament, Tdog has a long history of 1v1 battles and was once one of the best in that area. Tdog is one of the few who has beaten Lithoss in multiple 1v1 encounters, as well as holding the #1 spot on both the SquadGames and TWL 1v1 Tank ladders. Tdog has faced them all - Lithoss, Infac, Rapture, Big Ed, Merlin and almost every other "big name" tanker you can think of. Although he is now mostly retired, and his skill may be turned into a slushy rust bucket of his former self, he is still one tanker not to be underestimated. Tdog is easily one of the top picks for the Tournament Champion - but will real life get in the way? Only time will tell, but many predict an epic final battle between Tdog & Malakai for the championship - the first time they have every faced on a ladder or tournament.
Infinite (Semi-finalist)
One of the most underrated tankers in the game, formerally known as Thomas, has come back from his Canadian hide out in order to do battle with his former team mates to claim the prize of "Best Aberdeen Tanker". Being the only Canadian tanker in the tournament, he sure has a lot to prove to his American opponents. Infinite easily has the skill and overall know-how needed to defeat anyone who has made it so far - but will he be able to? He's known as being "hot headed" come match time and reacts poorly while under pressure, but if he can defeat his own weaknesses he is most certainly capable of going to the finals and taking it all. One of the last original [Ð] members left, it will be interesting to see if he can represent the team in all its glory.
Malakai (Semi-finalist)
Although not a major 1v1 tanker, Malakai made a name for himself through 8v8 competition. He's tanked against them all - Tdog, Rapture, Enemy, Merlin, UglyGreen, Infinite, Immortal, Arias, Lithoss, LeGun, Big Ed, Infac and every other tanker you can think of. He never competed in any of the 1v1 ladders, due to time restraints, but instead became Rapture's favorite scrim partner. Rapture & Malakai 1v1ed on multiple matches during Rapture's reign on the #1 spot for the TWL ladder, and every time it was close. Malakai has not competed against anyone else recently, but did play a close match against Infinite in the first round of the tournament. Like Tdog, Malakai is a rust bucket of his former ability. He is also the founder of Ðeath Industry - a team full of very well-known tankers who went undefeated on the 2v2 tank ladder @ TWL. This may not be the tanker whom Rapture scrimmed every other night, but its certainly close - and those who underrate his ability will certainly pay for it ten-fold.
FirstStar
Probally the most underrated tanker in the tournament, FirstStar is one of those kind of guys that makes you laugh by cracking jokes rather than actually caring about the match itself. He defeated DonkeyPunch in a heated battle and is still waiting to play against [52]Grinder for his semi-finals slot. Although FirstStar is extremely underrated, he should still be able to make quite a good match and may in fact be capable of defeating [52]Grinder in what will be a very heated and close match.
[52]Grinder
Although not many know about Grinder, he is in fact one of the better tankers in the game who just never really "did it" competitively. I'm sure that if he did, he would of made a name for himself on his own. Grinder, although very underrated, should not be underestimated. He can nail the treadshot when it is needed most, and he knows how to position himself effectively. Although he has not yet made it to the Semi-Finals (pending a match against FirstStar), I am almost positive that he will make it. Grinder quite possibly has what it takes to go to the finals, if he can get through Malakai. Only time will tell if this underrated titan has what it takes to go all the way.[/list:u:c2dfd75a58]
Semi-Finals Prediction
Tdog vs. Infinite
[list:c2dfd75a58]This is an epic battle between two very well known and dominant tankers. Tdog, of course, is very well known and is almost a legend for his 1v1 abilities - especially on Aberdeen. Infinite, on the other hand, is more of a match tanker similar to Malakai and is prepared to give all he can to become the victor. Infinite played a very close match against Malakai in round 1 of the tournament, and in order to even the tournament out so that there were 4 semi-finalists rather than 3, himself and Dude were given a second chance. If Tdog can get real life issues out of the way and play this match then most people would expect him to take it overall - but I'm not. Tdog, unfortunally, has been dealing with a lot of real life issues lately and hasn't had much playing time. Infinite, on the other hand, has been practicing his ass off - especially since he was given a second chance. With that said, Infinite's clear determination and skill over a very rusty Tdog will allow him to win in what will be a match of epic proportions.
