Comments on BF2 from those who can play it

Post your comments on BF2. The likes and dislikes and hopefully answer questions that people like myself, who can't play it, ask.

How large are the maps in comparisson to BF1942 ones? Are they like Gazala, Aberdeen, Stalingrad, Berlin?

How is the hit-detection and netcode? Is it ridiculously inaccurate and annoying like BF1942 or accurate like Quake 3?

Is the physics more realistic or just like BF1942?

Is it fun and fit for competition?

I found one map that is simular to aberdeen. The map is called Daq... Oil Fields. The mains cannot be captured and have five contested flags (silimar layout to aber). The middle flag can only be captured by infantry. Armor spawns at all flags.

It does have choppers but good anti air armor.

P.S. EAUK10 is still strong, old schoolers like T-rex, Seaman, No Hurt Me and new schoolers like hotshot, pimp, and others are on regularly.

You may want to get on TS and talk to Grenade about BF2. He can fill you in better than me.

I've viewed it to see if there were any comments. I can't play it yet and want to decide if I'm really gonna drop the cash to get a new machine.

I don't like the Gamespy bullshit and changing your name is a bitch or in my case impossible. I guess this was done for the stat whores. Also the fact that you can't use ASCII special characters in name. :evil:

It’s way to easy to TK you bump into somebody with a vehicle and they’re dead just like that waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to easy. :cry:

I don't like the fact that to find a server you need xfire like COD because a perfectly good game menu like BF1942 was thrown out the window. :x

Load times for maps could be better but I understand there’s a lot there to load and considering it's ok. :?

I wish we had the option to go back to the old fashioned command keys if we would like to. :(

I wish they had the radar on the planes like Desert combat and more of the Desert combat planes. But other vehicles are more realistic especially the small fast vehicles. :?

Needs capture the flag and objective modes. :roll:

A key so that you could talk to nearby players even if they are not in your squad IE inside a vehicle you could yell across to the next guy and say your sexy like T DOG. I mean chat not text

These are small complaints though I think they did a great job and with a couple of patches this will be another classic

I do love the team play and the fact that awards team players and recognizes this and the end of the round. Playing on a squad that knows what they are doing is awesome just ask grenade. This is an even better game for clan matches because you could have two separate squads of specialist working together with the commander and devastate the other team.

The tanks are nice and I like them better than the tanks on Desert combat but they do take less skill than the BF1942 tanks but I think they look awesome but sound like shit.

I like the fact that the heat seeking missiles still take some skill to use and that if you’re good you can outsmart them. I like the countermeasure on the aircraft and the fact that the helos are easier to fly and they hover nicely.

I like the maps they are a good combination of BF1942 and Vietnam. Vietnam had to much cover and 1942 not enough. The maps are gorgeous and nice sizes with lots of interesting features i.e. haze smoke waterfalls all kinds of cool structures even ramps to go flying off. Bridges that can be booby trapped and lots of nice interesting ways to die.

I've posted my opinions in various other threads around here. Overall I do like the game, since I've been playing the full version for about 2 weeks now, I've gotten into it more. I'll concur with pretty much what DeathWish said, no point in typing it all again.

The thing to keep in mind is that it is designed more around modern combat, which has less focus on tanks and armor, more on infantry and air.

I think the possibility is there to have some nice fun playing it as a group. I've played it with a few of the members here so far and had a blast, looking forward to some more to come.
